Line Marker | Northern Territory
Why Apply
Still earning NZ rates doing the same road marking runs week after week? This is a chance to get paid properly for your skills, with your accommodation and vehicle sorted on arrival. But let’s be straight. This is remote Australia. You will be based in Alice Springs, working long days in the heat, away from home for stretches at a time. If that suits your lifestyle, the money and setup here are hard to beat.
- Earn $50 to $60 AUD per hour plus super on a permanent full-time basis. No casual uncertainty, no labour hire. Just steady money.
- Accommodation and a work vehicle are both provided. Your costs on arrival are minimal and more of your pay stays with you.
- Work across road markings, car parks, pedestrian crossings, symbols, legends, and traffic guidance markings on real NT infrastructure projects.
- Specialised trade with strong long-term demand across Australia. The skills you build here travel well and open doors across the country.
- Structured roster of around 11 to 14 days on followed by 3 to 4 days off. Expect long days — 10 to 14 hours is normal on this kind of work. You know when you are working and when you are not.
The Role
You will be based in Alice Springs and working across remote NT project sites. Alice Springs is a small, isolated town — it is not Sydney or Auckland. The work is physically demanding, the days are long, and you will be away from the comforts of home for blocks at a time. If you are the type who thrives in that environment and gets satisfaction from hard, skilled work in wide open country, this is the right fit.
- Applying road markings, symbols, legends, parking bays, arrows, crossings, and traffic control markings
- Preparing surfaces including cleaning, measuring, masking, and layout
- Operating linemarking machines, hand spray equipment, grinders, and blowers
- Removing or covering existing markings where required
- Checking line widths, spacing, dimensions, and layout before and during application
- Conducting daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on vehicles and equipment
- Following traffic management plans, SWMS, and site safety requirements
- Working closely with supervisors, traffic controllers, and crew members
What We Need
- Hands-on experience with linemarking machines or civil construction in a similar field
- Experience working in live traffic environments
- Current driver licence (non-negotiable)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Comfortable with remote living — Alice Springs is isolated and the lifestyle reflects that
- Willingness to relocate and commit to a variable roster including early starts, nights, and long days
Why This Role
The hourly rate here is well above what most linemarkers are earning in NZ, and with accommodation and a vehicle included you are not spending your wage on setup costs. This is a permanent role with a company that has ongoing NT project work, not a short-term contract. If you are genuinely comfortable with remote living, long days, and being away from home for stretches — and you want to get ahead financially — this is a solid move.
