The Role

You will be working across trailer fabrication, heavy vehicle modification, chassis tippers, road-train dollies, insurance repairs, and custom fabrication at a well-regarded transport engineering workshop in Port Lincoln, SA. This is genuine fabrication work, not just running beads. You will be expected to think through problems, work through multiple approaches on a repair job, and deliver quality without needing to be told what to do next. The owner is on the tools himself and has no time to babysit.

Day to day you will be:

• Fabricating and assembling trailers, tippers, road-train dollies, and custom engineering components
• Carrying out heavy vehicle modifications, repairs, and insurance work across a range of transport equipment
• Working through complex repair jobs independently, often testing multiple approaches to find the right solution
• Welding across steel and aluminium to a high standard across a variety of fabrication scopes
• Working alongside apprentices and supporting their development as part of a small, tight team
• Maintaining quality of finish and output across everything that leaves the workshop

Standard hours are 7am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Overtime is available via TOIL or double time where the job permits. If you are an experienced boilermaker, welder fabricator, or heavy fabricator from a transport, agricultural, or general engineering background, this role is worth a serious look.

What We Need

• Recognised trade qualification in Boilermaking, non-negotiable
• Genuine fabrication ability, must be able to think through and execute fabrication work independently, not just weld
• Valid driver’s licence, non-negotiable in Port Lincoln
• Forklift ticket, required
• Steel and aluminium welding experience, the company works across both and does not mind which material you are dominant in
• Problem-solving mindset and the ability to work through repair jobs without close direction
• Attitude, commitment, and effort, these are the top three priorities in that order, above technical skill
• Comfortable working for a hands-on boss in a small workshop environment
• Genuinely committed to relocating to Port Lincoln long term and investing in the community, not treating it as a trial run
